Saint Stephen’s girls, Lakewood Ranch boys soccer teams pick up victories

Ayla Johnston scored two goals, giving her eight on the season, and the Saint Stephen’s girls soccer team defeated host Imagine School of North Port 5-0 on Friday.

Kendall Miller had a goal and three assists for the Falcons, who also saw Katie Pierce and Jaclyn Schlossberg score a goal in the victory. Falcons goalie Mara Gonzalez had one save.

“It was great to get out after a tough away loss at ODA earlier in the week and bounce back to open district play with a win,” Saint Stephen’s head coach Andrew Sopher said. “I’ve been pleased with the girls’ performance in each game this week. We’re just starting to get all of our pieces back from the fall teams and find our rhythm. Our only goal will be to improve as a team day-to-day going forward.”

LAKEWOOD RANCH 5, SEBRING 1

Connor McManis scored two goals to lead the Mustangs’ boys soccer team to victory.

Alex Thompson, Luke Evans and Garret Wicks also scored a goal for Lakewood Ranch, and goalie Ryan Freeman had seven saves.
