Saint Stephen’s, Lakewood Ranch win girls soccer season openers

The host Saint Stephen’s Falcons started the girls soccer season Tuesday with a rout 7-0 rout of Sarasota Military Academy

Jaclyn Schlossberg scored three goals, Ayla Johnston added two, and Katie Pierce and Siddie Pennewill had one apiece for the Falcons.

Contributing assists were Pierce, K.K Hart and Aubrey Dunbar.

Emma Craig earned the shutout with three saves in goal. The Falcons tallied 22 shots on goal in the game.

Lakewood Ranch 1, North Port 0: The visiting Mustangs started the season with a win over the host Bobcats.

Senior Faith Schyck scored late in the second half on a penalty kick to secure the win. The Mustangs play Venice at home at 7 p.m. Thursday.
