Bradenton Christian swimmer Freed finishes 2nd, 7th at state meet

Bradenton Christian School’s Anna Freed, a sophomore, won second place in the 100 backstroke and took seventh place in the 100 butterfly during the Class 1A state swim meet Saturday at Sailfish Splashpark Aquatics Athletic Center in Stuart.

Swimmers from Saint Stephen’s and Out-of-Door Academy also placed in several events in the boys competition.

In the boys 500 freestyle, ODA’s Sarse Whatmore took sixth place and was ninth in the 200 freestyle. As a team, the Thunder finished ninth in the 400 free relay.

For Saint Stephen’s, Alexander Webster led the Falcons, finishing 11th in the boys 500 freestyle.

Graham Beckstein finished 14th in the 50 freestyle and 17th in the 100 freestyle; Nicolas Mattheys finished 23rd in the 100 freestyle; and Nicholas Probosz finished 22nd in the 200 individual medley.

The Falcons finished 13th overall in the 200 free relay and 14th in the 400 free relay.
