Local roundup: Out-of-Door Academy tops Bradenton Christian in boys golf

Wyatt Plattner earned medalist honors with a nine-hole total of 40, leading the Out-of-Door Academy boys golf team to a victory over Bradenton Christian on Thursday at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.

Other qualifying scores for ODA (5-5 record, 172 total) included Jake Naese (43), John Vickery (44) and Chris Heller (45).

For Bradenton Christian (8-20, 199), Jack Knowles led the way with a 43, followed by Noah Cone (45), Bryson Morishita (50) and Alexis Sikkema (61).

CARDINAL MOONEY 3, BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 1

The Cougars defeated the Panthers 25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 25-11.

Standouts for BCS included Madison Allen (5 kills, 13 digs), Calla Beukema (5 kills, 16 digs), Bailey Sikkema (11 kills, 6 digs, 5 blocks), Amy Van Ryn (10 kills, 5 blocks), Emily Eurice (23 assists, 13 digs) and Ashley Waldo (23 digs).

HILLSBOROUGH CC 3, STATE COLLEGE OF FLORIDA 0

The Manatees dropped to 7-17 on the season and 2-2 in the Suncoast Conference following a 25-22, 25-16, 25-21 loss to Hillsborough CC.

Top players for SCF included Jayleen Abregana (7 kills, 13 digs) and Henrike Axt (12 kills, 2 blocks).

On Saturday, SCF hosts Palm Beach State College at noon and St. Johns River at 4 p.m.
