Southeast High held off a comeback by Sarasota Booker, outlasting the Tornadoes 25-15, 25-14, 23-25, 17-25, 15-9 in the Seminoles’ home opener.

Top players included Tira Perkins (15 serves received, 13 attacks, 8 kills, 6 aces, 3 sets, 2 digs), Danielle Marler (20 serves received, 6 kills, 5 aces, 4 attacks, 3 digs), Brooke Washington (24 sets, 6 kills, 4 attacks, 3 digs, 3 aces), Ambriel Jones (28 serves received, 14 sets, 8 digs, 2 attacks), Maxine Maldonado (38 sets, 6 digs), Deju Johnson (5 kills, 4 attacks, 2 blocks, 2 aces).

Southeast’s next game is 7 p.m. Monday at Palmetto.

After a close first set, the visiting Bruins pulled away for a convincing 26-24, 25-19, 25-10 win over host SMA.
