IMG Academy football improves to No. 2 in the country

Two Booker T. Washington losses this past week helped IMG Academy move up to the No.2-ranked team in the nation.

The Ascenders traveled to Shreveport, La., for a 49-7 blowout victory over Booker T. Washington out of Tulsa, Okla., behind quarterback Kellen Mond’s three touchdown passes.

That result, coupled with Miami Booker T. Washington’s 12-9 loss to Miami Jackson, sent IMG up one spot to No. 2 in USA Today’s latest Super 25 high school football rankings.

Only Nevada’s Bishop Gorman, out of Las Vegas, stands in the Ascenders’ way from the top spot. IMG hosts Washington D.C.’s St. John’s College this Saturday in the Ascenders’ regular-season home opener.
