Golf Plus | Archie Griffin Golf Classic won by a Wolverine
The annual Archie Griffin Celebrity Golf Classic was held Tuesday at the Concession Golf Club in East Manatee. The event raised more than $100,000 for the Concession charities and the Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota County. To date, the event has raised roughly $500,000. The winning team didn't consist of a past Ohio State Buckeye football great, though. Former Michigan star Leroy Hoard teamed with Sherry Cassidy, Chelsea Mokary, Jon McLean and Louis Altman to produce the winning score of 56. They were tied with former Ohio State standout Keith Byars' team, but won on a match-of-cards tiebreaker. Byars' group consisted of Kim Cornetet, Lindsey McPherson, Jen Elsholz and World Golf Hall of Fame member Hollis Stacy.
