Where: Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club, Sarasota
When: Monday, tee times starting at 12 p.m.
Local teams: Lakewood Ranch
Local individuals: Matthew Bruton (Braden River), Brandon Pozzie (Braden River) and Richard Bennett (Manatee)
Outlook: The Mustangs district title streak was snapped at five last week, but the program has made five straight state tournament appearances. Drew Angelo's father is the head pro at Heritage Oaks, so familiar territory could prove useful for the freshman. Meanwhile, Matthew Bruton played consistently over a treacherous Misty Creek layout for the lone sub-par district tourney round and has a chance at advancing to his first state tournament.
What: Class 3A-Region 5 girls golf tournament
Where: Mission Valley Golf & Country Club, Nokomis
When: Tuesday, tee times starting at 10 a.m.
Local teams: Lakewood Ranch
Local individuals: Gabrielle Tomeo (Manatee), Danielle Wolfe (Manatee)
Outlook: The Mustangs didn't just post the top score at last week's district tournament, but the best team score among the three district champions represented at Tuesday's regional. Manatee's Gabrielle Tomeo fired a 71, despite a late double bogey and bogey soured her round. Expect her to contend for the region title.
What: Class 2A-Region 7 boys golf tournament
Where: Port Charlotte Golf Club
When: Monday, tee times starting at 10 a.m.
Local teams: None
Local individuals: Matt Everhart (Southeast)
Outlook: Everhart could be teeing it up for his last high school golf round. The Southeast senior posted an 87 to qualify for the region tourney, but there were six sub-80 rounds during district competition.
What: Class 2A-Region 7 girls golf tournament
Where: Port Charlotte Golf Club
When: Tuesday, tee times starting at 10 a.m.
Local teams: None
Local individuals: Theo Schultz (Bayshore)
Outlook: With a 116 in the district tournament, Schultz will need to shave roughly 30 shots off her round at the region tournament - played at the same venue as districts - to compete for a state tourney qualifying berth.
What: Class 1A-Region 6 boys and girls golf tournament
Where: Bradenton Country Club
When: Monday, tee times starting at 8 a.m. (boys) and 10 a.m. (girls)
Local teams: Boys - Saint Stephen's, Bradenton Christian; Girls - Saint Stephen's, Out-of-Door Academy, Cardinal Mooney
Local individuals: Boys - Max Coutsolioutsos (ODA), Kyle Jarrett (Cardinal Mooney)
Outlook: On the boys side, BCS senior Landry Miller is starting to peak at the right time. He won the Manatee County title, and cruised to a 72 at districts. The Falcons are looking to flip-flop district runner up into region champ status for a second straight year. On the girls side, the Falcons boasted the second-best score among teams advancing to the region tourney. Vanessa Yan lost in a playoff at the prestigious Donald Ross Memorial Invitational, but returned with the only sub-80 round at the district tournament.
