Golf Plus | Knowles, Yu set to play in Florida Junior Cup

Bradenton's Philip Knowles tied for 21st in the Oglethorpe Invitational held last week at the Wilmington Island Club in Savannah, Ga.

Knowles fired a 2-under-par 211 for the three-day tournament, which concluded Saturday. He was eight shots behind Pinehurst, N.C.'s Zachary Martin, who won by one shot over University of West Florida golfer Henry Westmoreland IV.

The Florida Junior Cup is slated for Monday and Tuesday at Vero Beach Country Club in Vero Beach and features two Manatee County juniors.

Knowles and Bradenton's Ariel (SiQin) Yu are in the field for the South team against the North.

Knowles is teaming with Port Charlotte's Spencer Alexander for the four-ball matches before anchoring the afternoon foursome matches with Naples resident Sydney Shrader in Monday's opening round.

Yu is slated to combine with Brittany Shin for the Monday morning fourball session before playing with David Morgan, of Naples, for the foursome session.

The event wraps up Tuesday with singles matches.

Bradenton's Max Coutsolioutsos, who plays high school golf at Out-of-Door Academy, made the quarterfinals of the Florida State Golf Association's Junior Amateur Match Play in the boys 13-15 age division at Tampa's Carrollwood Country Club recently.
