Golf Plus | Bradenton's Stone tied for sixth at Florida State Golf Association's Senior Amateur Championship

Bradenton's Jim Stone tied for sixth place at the Florida State Golf Association's Senior Amateur Championship that wrapped up last week at The Country Club of Naples.

Stone fired a 74-72-73--219 to finish 10 shots behind Sarasota's Gordon Marshall, who won with a 7-under-par 209 total.

The Greater Sarasota Junior Golf Association completed its penultimate Winter Tour Series event Sunday at Bent Tree Country Club.

Lakewood Ranch's Louie DelFabro tied for second with a 77 in the boys 16-18 age division. He finished a shot behind Sarasota's Erik Souchak.

Lakewood Ranch's Cameron Weber (81) finished in a tie for second place, one shot behind Sarasota's Dalton Plattner, in the boys 13-15s.

Bradenton's Alyssa Mercado posted an 81 to capture the girls 13-15 division title. Bradenton's Natalie Robson and Lakewood Ranch's Katie Kroos-Roberts each recorded a 90 to share runner-up honors.

Longboat Key's Alan Klenor won the boys 13-14 division of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour's College Prep Series this past weekend at USF.

Playing The Claw, Klenor posted rounds of 71 and 79 to log a nine-shot victory over Port St. Lucie's Haruki Takeda.

In the boys 11-12s, Bradenton's Gregory Solhaug (76-76--152, second) and Ryan Song (76-82--158, third) logged top-three finishes behind Orlando's Brendan Valdes' winning 151 total.

Bradenton's David Siwy tied for ninth place after a 74-79--153 in the boys 15-18 division. Boca Raton's Sachin Kumar won with a 73-72--145.

Palm Harbor's Travis Huston won the recent West Florida Golf Tour event at Laurel Oak Country Club in Sarasota. Huston collected a $1,048.41 payday for firing a 65 and besting Naples' Edward Figueroa by a shot Monday on the West Course. It was Huston's second victory this winter on the WFGT.

The WFGT is at River Hills Country Club in Valrico for a two-day tournament. Bradenton's Landon Michelson is tied with A.J. Morris, of Aspen, Colo., after the two fired 6-under par 66s. The tournament concludes Thursday, while the WFGT returns to wrap up its Winter Series on Monday at the Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club. The Summer Series begins next month.

HOLES-IN-ONE

On March 9 at Tara Golf & Country Club, Bob Haveman aced the 141-yard 6th hole with a 2 hybrid. Witness was Linda Haveman.

On March 12 at Terra Ceia Bay, Mary-Lou Coulter aced the 109-yard 8th hole with a 3-wood. Witnesses were Cheryl Gord, Godwin Gord and Mike Monteledne.

On March 16 at The River Club, Susan Owens aced the 86-yard 8th hole with a pitching wedge. Witnesses were John Owens and Joe Jarie.

On March 17 at Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club, Jean Newbon aced the 111-yard 16th hole on the Cypress Links course with a 6-iron. Witnesses were Kathy Bateson, Connie Thompkins and Mary Ann Steinbeck.
