Miracle outslug Marauders

The Marauders erased a five-run deficit and briefly led before five late runs produced Fort Myers’ 11-9 victory in Florida State League play on Sunday at McKechnie Field.

Christian Ibarra produced his only hit, a two-run single in the ninth, off Luis Heredia (4-5), who gave up five runs (four earned) on four hits and two walks in 1 /3 innings. Heredia gave up Joe Maloney’s two-run single and A.J. Murray’s sacrifice fly in the eighth, tying the score at 9.

Todd Van Steensel (3-2), the fifth Fort Myers (59-59, 25-24) pitcher, earned the win.

Connor Joe (3 for 5) led Bradenton (60-57, 22-27) with his fifth homer and 4 RBIs, and Kevin Kramer drove in four while going 2 for 4, including a double.

Up next: The Marauders send Buddy Borden (0-3, 8-02) to the mound against Randy LeBlanc (4-6, 4.27) in the finale of the two-game series Monday. ... First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ...
