Mets beat Marauders 6-4
The Marauders dropped the first game of their series with the St. Lucie Mets on Friday. David Thompson belted a solo home run to left to put the Mets up 1-0 in the first.
The Mets got another on an RBI single by Michael Katz to make it 2-0. A bases-loaded walk to John Mora made it 3-0 in the third. Connor Joe hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1 in the top of the fourth. But the Mets responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to make it 5-1. The Marauders got two back in the top of the fifth, the latter coming on a bases-loaded walk to Joe.
Tomas Nido made it 6-3 in the sixth on an RBI double. Bradenton got a run on a wild pitch in the seventh that made it 6-4. Marauders starter Austin Coley lasted just 3.2 innings while giving up six hits, five runs (all earned) and a season-high six walks. He didn’t strike anyone out.
