Marauders walk off against Threshers on single by Jerrick Suiter
Jerrick Suiter smacked a single to right field in the bottom of the ninth and the Marauders walked off against the Threshers for a 6-5 win at McKechnie Field.
Clearwater tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by third baseman Jordan Walding against relief pitcher Tanner Anderson (1-1), bringing the two teams to the brink of extra innings for the second time in as many nights. Second baseman Pablo Reyes, though, led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk for Bradenton (51-43) and made it to third base after a pair of bunts by outfielder Tito Polo and shortstop Cole Tucker against the Threshers (55-39). Suiter came to the plate with the bases loaded two batters later and laced a line drive to right off relief pitcher Ulises Joaquin (2-2) to give the Pirates’ Class A Advanced a win in the penultimate game of a four-game series against the Phillies’ Florida State League team.
Up next: JT Brubaker (1-3, 4.93) takes the mound for the Marauders against the Threshers’ Luke Leftwich (1-2, 7.88) in the finale of a four-game series Wednesday in Bradenton. First pitch is at 10:30 a.m. Live streaming audio will be available online at BradentonMarauders.com.
