Luis Heredia loses control in 10th of Marauders’ loss to Threshers
Luis Heredia gave up two hits and two earned runs during the top of the 10th inning and the Bradenton Marauders fell to the Cleawater Threshers, 2-0, in the second game of a four-game series at McKechnie Field.
Bradenton managed only four hits in 10 innings against Clearwater, leaving pitcher Austin Coley with a no decision despite six scoreless innings. Heredia (4-2), who was one of four All-Stars for the Pirates’ Class A Advanced affiliate last month, also threw two wild pitches, including one on a strikeout that could have ended the inning without any runs scoring. Instead, first baseman Kyle Martin beat the throw to first and the Phillies’ FSL team scored the game-winning run a batter later.
Threshers pitcher Matt Hockenberry allowed a lead-off single to shortstop Cole Tucker before retiring three straight to finish off the Marauders in Bradenton.
Up next: The Marauders send Buddy Borden (0-1, 7.16) to the mound against the Threshers’ Elniery Garcia (8-2, 2.23). The first pitch is at 6:30 p.m. Live streaming audio will be available online at BradentonMarauders.com.
