Charlotte beats Bradenton 3-1

Bradenton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning Sunday but could not hold it and eventually lost 3-1 to Charlotte.

After threatening in the first inning on a double by Kevin Kramer and putting two men on base with two out in the second and third innings, a Michael Suchy triple and an Elvis Escobar sacrifice fly put the Marauders on the board.

In the bottom of the fifth, Jace Conrad doubled to lead off and went to third on a Grant Kay single. A bunt single to Bradenton pitcher Buddy Borden scored Conrad and a sacrifice bunt sent Kay to third. Kay scored on a sacrifice fly to give Charlotte a 2-1 lead. Charlotte added a run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth.

Bradenton starting pitcher Buddy Borden (0-1) pitched five innings and gave up four hits, two earned runs, walked two and struck out three.
