No locals swim into finals at Monday’s Olympic Trials

Lakewood Ranch High alum Danielle Valley posted the best finish among area swimmers at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb., on Monday. For Valley, that meant a 41st place showing during the prelims of the 400-meter freestyle. Valley clocked in at 4:16.52.

Only the top eight in each event qualified for the finals, which are scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m. each night.

Others competing locally on Monday were Lakewood Ranch’s Daniel Erlenmeyer (3:58.83, 52nd place) and Bayshore’s T.C. Smith (3:59.80, 69th place), who swam the men’s 400-meter freestyle.
