IMG Academy alum Danielle Collins claims second NCAA tennis singles title
IMG Academy alum Danielle Collins added a second career NCAA tennis singles championship on Memorial Day.
Collins, a University of Virginia senior, bested North Carolina’s Haley Carter, 6-3, 6-2, for the victory. She became the first ACC player, and seventh overall, to win two NCAA singles titles for a career in women’s tennis.
Collins also earned a wild card entry into the 2016 U.S. Open’s main draw, which is set for Aug. 29-Sept. 11 in Flushing, N.Y.
