Errors, home runs cost Marauders against Hammerheads in Jupiter

The Marauders surrendered only four hits to the host Hammerheads on Wednesday, but a pair of solo home runs and two errors that led to two unearned runs handed Jupiter a 4-2 victory in Florida State League at Roger Dean Stadium.

Alex McRae (2-3) took the loss for the Marauders (23-22) despite seven strong innings. The pitcher surrendered two earned runs while striking out four and walking none.

Bradenton’s two runs came on RBIs by shortstop Kevin Newman and outfielder Jeff Roy. Former Southeast outfielder Michael Suchy went 1 for 2 with a walk and a runs scored from the No. 8 spot.

Up next: Marauders pitcher Stephen Tarpley (0-0) faces the Hammerheads’ Dillon Peters (4-2) on Thursday to conclude a three-game series in Jupiter (25-22). Game time is 6:30 p.m.
