Braden River’s Tyler Dyson leads locals on FACA All-Star teams
Tyler Dyson completed one of the best regular seasons in Manatee County history for Braden River this spring. Next weekend, he will be rewarded with an appearance in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Baseball Classic in Sebring.
The pitcher and infielder, who didn’t allow an earned run during the season, is the only county public school player scheduled to compete for the West team during the May 27-28 event at Fireman’s Field. IMG Academy pitcher Anthony Holubecki, Out-of-Door Academy catcher Parke Phillips, and Cardinal Mooney pitcher and third baseman Josh Bonynge will also play for the West.
Dyson, signed to play at Florida next year, finished his senior season with a 0.38 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 55 2/3 innings. He posted a 6-1 record with one save. At the plate, Dyson batted .333 with two home runs, 17 RBIs, 14 runs and three steals.
Phillips, a Brown signee, led all area players with a .574 batting average and belted four home runs with 16 RBIs. Holubecki, who will play at Notre Dame, went 2-1 with a 1.38 ERA and three saves in 30 1/3 innings with 37 strikeouts.
