Rebecca Boesen struck out 13 and scattered three hits to lead Southeast past host St. Petersburg Lakewood. Boesen walked two, but didn't allow an earned run on Tuesday.

Ivy Turner, Boesen, Shaylene Holt and Ambral Jones each had a hit. Southeast finished with four hits.

Southeast (3-1, 1-0 Class 5A, District 11) scored the game's first two runs in the third and reopened a two-run lead in the top of the sixth.

Girls tennis

Sarasota 4, Manatee 3 -- A sweep by Sarasota in doubles lifted the visiting Sailors on Tuesday.

Manatee (0-1) won in No. 1 singles with Grayson Hall, No. 2 singles with Parri Howard and No. 4 singles with Alison Hlavac, but lost in No. 3 singles to Sarasota's Madison McGrath and No. 5 singles to Evvan Chmielewski. Sarasota's (1-1) Isabella Winter and McGrath won in No. 1 doubles, and the Sailors' Erica Lester and McKenzie Miller took No. 2 doubles.

The Hurricanes' next match is 3 p.m. Thursday against Bradenton Christian.

Boys tennis

BRADEN RIVER 6, BAYSHORE 2 -- The Pirates breezed through windy conditions for the win. BHS' doubles team of Shiva Puri and Ariel Gonzalez-Pongo accounted for Bayshore's win.

Southeast 6, Booker 1 -- Tyler Teaford and Sebastian Suarez, at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, respectively, remained unbeaten to lead the visiting Seminoles (3-0). Southeast returns to action Thursday at Braden River.

Boys baseball

PALMETTO 8, BRADEN RIVER 7 (F/10) -- Harrison Thiel smacked a walk-off single off righty Daniel Tart in the 10th inning and the Tigers (2-0) won for the second straight day. Thiel went 3-for-6 with three RBIs and a run for PHS. Anthony Calhoun earned the win for one inning of hitless relief. Infielder Brian Dillingham went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs and two RBIs to lead the Pirates' (1-1) .

Shorecrest 5, Saint Stephen's 3 -- Caleb Eyre went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs in the losing cause for Saint Stephen's (0-1). Ben Tobio added two doubles and a stolen base. Losing pitcher Sam O'Dell (0-1) went four innings, giving up five hits, four runs.

Boys wrestling

VENICE 41, LAKEWOOD RANCH 33 -- Pins by Jake Seaman at 106 pounds, Dylan Cameron (132), Ryan Brown (145) and Luis Tremblay-Vidal (170) and Chase Sharp (195) led the Mustangs in the loss to Venice. Nate Lancaster, at 220 pounds, won by decision to account for the remaining points.

The Mustangs' junior varsity won 48-18.
