SCF softball sweeps Seminole State in twin-bill, 5-4 and 4-0
SANFORD -- The bats of twin sisters Jessica and Jainie Harney lifted the State College of Florida Manatees to a doubleheader sweep of Seminole State on Tuesday.
The Manatees (5-2) got offensive help from Savannah Money, who was 2 for 4. Jessica Harney was 2 for 3 in the first-game 5-4 win. Jessica Reid (3-2) was the winning pitcher.
In the second game, the Harney sisters each had a home run in the 4-0 win. Jessica Harney was 1 for 2, and Jainie Harney was 1 for 3. Kayla Maxwell (2-0) was the winning pitcher.
The Manatees' next game is against Santa Fe College on Saturday.
College football
American Athletic Conference -- The University of South Florida and Central Florida will play each other the Saturday after Thanksgiving, according to the master schedules the American Athletic Conference released on Tuesday. The two teams played on Thanksgiving this past season.
USF and UCF open the season on Sept. 3 with USF playing host to Towson and UCF at home against South Carolina State.
Each of the conference's 12 teams will play eight conference games against the same teams each faced this past season as part of the conference's two-year, home-and-home rotation.
