John Barnett, a past International Shuffleboard Association president, dies at 82

A past president of the International Shuffleboard Association, John D. Barnett, Jr. passed away on Jan. 18 at age 82.

Residents of Seabreeze (Daytona Beach), earlier of Golf Lakes, John and Marilyn Faris Barnett worked tirelessly for about a decade in all aspects of international shuffleboard.

John had been active in Farm Bureau in Ohio and in Flying Farmers, having not only his own plane, but also his own airport. A member of the ISA Hall of Fame since 1996, John was a major player in the establishment of the ISA Hall of Fame Museum in Clearwater. He was also a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and received honors for service in the Korean War.

Our sympathy to Marilyn, his family and friends. He will be laid to rest in the family plot on their farm in Clinton County, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Shuffleboard Hall of Fame and mailed to 6595 Seminole Blvd, Seminole, FL 33772.

Also passing Jan. 18, was Fred Jones, 96, formerly of Maine. Fred and Shirley were active at Bradenton Shuffle Club for many years. They played well, contributed generously and are known as good citizens. Our sympathy to Shirley and the family.

Doris (Mrs. John) McDonald of Terra Siesta also passed last week. We understand Doris was a regular during the summer months' yellow and black.
