Golf Plus | Tough start in Web.com Tour Qualifying School's second stage for former PGA Tour player Casey Wittenberg
The first round of the Web.com Tour Qualifying School's second stage on Tuesday didn't bode well for area participants. Lakewood Ranch's Adam Hogue and former IMG Academy standout Casey Wittenberg, who also played on the PGA Tour in the past, struggled. Hogue carded a 5-over par 77, while Wittenberg had a 73 at Brooksville's Southern Hills Plantation Club. The top 21 and ties following Friday's final round advance to the final stage of Q-School next month at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.
Scores from Wednesday's second round were not known atpress time.
Michael Davan, of Rossville, Ill., won Monday's West Florida Golf Tour stop at the renowned World Woods Golf Club in Brooksville with a 67.
The one-day tournament saw Davan carve out seven birdies through a steady rain on the Pines Barren course for a $1,000 first-place check. His three-shot victory came over three players -- Andrew Wilkinson, Brad Brunner and Brent Witcher -- that each earned $353.33 apiece for sharing second place.
