Last Spring the Southwest Coast District voted to establish a long-awaited Southwest Coast District Hall of Fame under the leadership of a committee chaired by Jerry Stannard. The first official act of the new hall of fame occurred last Thursday at SWCD Tournament D-3 in Bradenton. Mel Erb, of Ohio and Pinecraft, a top player the past two decades, became the first inductee. Mel wishes to thank all those who made this honor possible, including the SWCD Board, all his partners over the years and his many friends and well-wishers. Mrs. Anne Erb and Mel received a standing ovation from the players and officials at the tournament.
Bradenton Shuffle Club will become the site of the Southwest Coast District Hall of Fame. Wall space in our main meeting room will have artifacts and pictures of inductees. Plans are moving forward and suggestions are welcomed.

Friday, Oct. 30, SWCD A-1 at Trailer Estates, District Amateurs, Draw Any Doubles. State Ams may play Friday with the draw set up so they will draw a District Am, as the rules preclude two State Am partners in the lower division.
Monday, Nov. 2, FL P-5 at Bradenton, Open National Singles, M/L Walking, Non-walking. Sixteen required in each division, sometimes not 16 Walking Ladies available. Walking 75 points, Non-Walking 12 frames.
There are two good reasons to get an up-to-date schedule. The first is to note the new later rain date, and changed dates and numbers on the later weeks of the schedule. Second is to note the existence of the SWCD State Amateur Masters, an incentive for State Amateurs to work for. This could affect your selection of which division to register in weekly if you would like to achieve eligibility.
All players should attend the ceremonies at tournaments. You will then keep up to date and show respect for sponsors who furnish much of the prize money.
Clubs who desire a school for members to develop skills may notify President Ron Nurnberger, (231) 690-1517 or John L. Brown, 756-8548.
2015-16 previews are here. Get one from your club or at a tournament. At $1, this is the best bargain in sports literature. No player should be without it.
