Manatee High's Kavious Price, the do-everthing specialist, was named co-MVP of the All District 16 Football team voted on by the coaches in Manatee and Sarasota County.
Price shares the honor with Venice's highly touted defensive tackle Jarrod Hewitt. The players were selected by the coaches from the public and private schools in Manatee and Sarasota county.
Price has played every skill position for the Hurricanes including receiver, quarterback and return specialist. The senior has racked up 952 all purpose yards (140.3 per game).
Price has caught 30 passes for 501 yards and four touchdowns, rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries and is 1-for-3 passing with his completion a 62-yard touchdown pass.
Hewitt leads Venice with 10 sacks and has 63 tackles, including 38 solos.
Manatee and Braden River led the offense with four first-team selections and Palmetto topped the defense with four first-team choices.
The All-District offense includes Braden River quarterback Jacob Huesman, running backs Octavious James of Palmetto and Raymond Thomas of Braden River, wide receiver Osiris Mitchell from Booker and Braden River tight end Ryan Neuzil.
The offensive line is comprised of Manatee's Josh Carden and Seth Walker, Braden River's Alex Salguero and Jacob Westberry of Saint Stephen's. Other first-team choices are Manatee kicker Nick Null, Palmetto's Azavion Smith for utility and Michael Cannon from Booker.
The first-team defense is comprised of Palmetto players Isyah Funk, Maka Matelau, Thaddeus Johnson and David Belvin. Manatee contributes Mahlik Mills and Matt Kissell. Also on the team are Braden River linebacker Chase Balliette and Jacob Westberry of Saint Stephen's. The rest of the defense includes Sage Lee of Venice, Chris Mercandetti from Riverview, Booker's Jarvis Williams and North Port punter Devon Allen.
