Bradenton native and Manatee High alum gets first NFL coaching gig with this team
Former Manatee High linebacker Bryan Bing is taking the next step in his football coaching journey.
The Bradenton native joined the Indianapolis Colts this week as part of the Tony Dungy Coaching Diversity Fellowship Program, which began in 2022 as an expansion of the team’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, according to multiple reports.
Bing, who played college football at Methodist University in North Carolina, previously was the defensive line coach at Wofford and was a graduate assistant at Pittsburgh.
Bing’s first stint in the NFL is on new Colts head coach Shane Steichen’s staff. The Colts have the fourth pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, which begins April 27.
“I am thrilled that the Colts are seeking to help build diversity and inclusion in NFL coaching by launching this Diversity Fellowship coaching program,” Dungy said in a news release when the fellowship program was announced. “It’s a tremendous honor for me to be identified with the program. I applaud the Irsay family and the organization for taking this proactive step, and I hope it encourages other teams to look for ways to promote equal opportunities in the coaching ranks.”
