The Florida Gators are closing in on hiring their next men’s basketball coach, according to various reports.

And the name attached to the opening is San Francisco head coach Todd Golden, whose Dons were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament on Thursday in overtime to Murray State.

ESPN first reported UF targeting the 36-year-old Golden, who led San Francisco to its first NCAA Tournament berth since 1998.

His record in three seasons with the Dons is 57-36, and his fluency with analytics are what drew the interest from UF, the outlet reported.

Mike White departed the Gators to take the Georgia Bulldogs job last week, ending seven seasons in Gainesville. White replaced Billy Donovan, who led the Gators to two national titles before leaving for the NBA.

No other details surrounding the coaching search involving the Gators and Golden were reported.
