Bradenton’s Nelly Korda named to Forbes 30 under 30 list as top golfer in the world
While the LPGA Tour’s season ended in November, Nelly Korda’s banner year continued this week with yet another accolade.
The 23-year-old Bradenton native was named to Forbes’ 30 under 30 list.
In the sports category, Korda joined other stars such as Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker, Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and U.S. women’s gymnastics team member Sunisa Lee, who won three medals — and gold in the all-around — at the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Korda’s scintillating 2021 season saw her become the top-ranked women’s golfer in the world by June as well as winning her first major championship and Olympic gold in Tokyo.
The Korda family is filled with athletic achievements. Nelly’s older sister, Jessica, has six LPGA Tour wins, their younger brother Sebastian is ranked No. 41 in the world for men’s tennis and their father Petr Korda won the 1998 Australian Open during his tennis career.
Nelly’s first major came at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, which vaulted her to the top of the Rolex world rankings.
