Watch Lakewood Ranch alum Sam Jackson among UCF football players in ‘We are one’ video
UCF’s official football Twitter account posted a video Wednesday morning.
In it, various football players and head coach Josh Heupel are shown saying the phrase, “We are one.”
The message begins with a black screen, background instrumental music and the following phrases: “Black Lives Matter. Racism exists. It’s not right. It’s not fair. It hurts. All of us. WE ARE ONE.”
Then the next 20 seconds of the 57 minute clip shows various players repeating the, “We are one,” phrase.
That includes Lakewood Ranch High alumnus Sam Jackson, who is an offensive lineman for the Knights. He appears at the 24-second mark and is the second UCF player shown.
The final part of the video pans to a box with multiple UCF players saying, “We are one,” in unison before cutting to Heupel saying that phrase and it reappearing over a background again to close out the video.
The entire video can be seen below:
Nationwide protests, both peaceful and riots, have ensued in the days following last week’s death of George Floyd, a black male who died while restrained by a Minneapolis police officer. Floyd’s death resulted in four police officers to be terminated, while Derek Chauvin, the officer that knelt on the back of Floyd’s neck, was arrested and charged with murder, according to multiple reports.
