Florida State’s 2020 schedule: six home games, UM in November and neutral-site opener
Florida State football fans, who were soured on the program toward the end of the Willie Taggart era became energized with Mike Norvell’s hiring in December.
Now FSU fans know the order of games for Norvell’s first season in Tallahassee after the Atlantic Coast Conference released the 2020 composite schedule.
That, in conjunction with non-conference games already lined up, gives a complete picture to the Seminoles’ 2020 campaign.
FSU only has one open date for the 2020 season, while getting, arguably, its two toughest opponents — Clemson and Florida — at home.
In addition, the Noles play West Virginia to open the season at a neutral venue in Atlanta to kick off the 2020 schedule. They travel to face Boise State two weeks later after playing the Broncos in the Sunshine State in 2019. It will mark the first time FSU plays in Idaho, while the WVU game marks the second time in four seasons the Seminoles will play inside Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The last time saw FSU fall to Alabama.
Samford is slotted in between the WVU and Boise State matchups.
National powerhouse Clemson, fresh off a loss in the College Football Playoff national title game to LSU, travels to Tallahassee for an Oct. 10 game.
Road games in ACC play for FSU include trips Oct. 24 to Louisville, Nov. 7 to Miami and Nov. 19 to Syracuse.
The Nov. 19 game against the Orange comes on a Thursday night. It also allows extra preparation for the regular-season finale against rival Florida, which occurs Thanksgiving weekend on Nov. 28.
