Michael Irvin and Terrell Owens headline Celebrity Flag Football and basketball games
If you’ve ever wondered whether Tracy McGrady could play football or if Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson could hoop, Truist has you covered.
The bank will be bringing the Confidence Classic to the Super Bowl for the second year in a row. This year’s festivities will include both a Celebrity Super Slam basketball and Flag Football game.
Arguably the best part? All proceeds go to a great cause.
“The Confidence Classic brings unique, affordable experiences to the Greater Miami community so families can take part in the weekend, even if they don’t attend the championship game,” said Tony Coley, community banking regional president for the South Florida region at Truist. “We are pleased to present events like these that benefit local charities and further our purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities.”
McGrady won’t be the only big name playing flag football. Other participants include Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Devin Bush Jr. and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Albert Wilson. Fans will have chances to win prizes at the Tailgate Zone during prior to the game.
The basketball game’s roster is just as impressive. Hall of Fame receiver Terrell Owens, former Hurricane Willis McGahee and Florida State great Peter Warrick all will be trying to show off their jumpers.
Super Slam tickets start at $15. The event will be held at Nova Southeastern University’s Rick Case Arena at the Don Taft Center. Doors open Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.
Florida International University’s Riccardo Silva Stadium will host the flag football game which kicks off at 12 p.m. on Feb. 1. Tickets start at $40.
Proceeds from the Super Slam will support the Irie Foundation while funds from the flag football game will benefit first responders and military organizations.
