Saint Stephen’s boys finish second in state
The Saint Stephen’s boys golf team placed second in the Class 1A state tournament on Wednesday, finishing 22 strokes behind Winter Park Circle Christian in the 36-hole event at the Mission Inn Resort.
Senior Ryan Kinkead carded a 3-under 69 on Wednesday and finished sixth at 1-over 145 to pace the Falcons. David Hu (76-71), Alan Klenor (71-83), Song Bai (78-81) and Massimo Mbetse (79-80) rounded out the Saint Stephen’s lineup.
Hobe Sound Pine School’s Garrett Barber shot 69-65 and finished at 7 under in cruising to a six-stroke victory.
Winter Park Circle Christian had the Nos. 2-4 finishers in winning the team crown.
In the girls’ event, Saint Stephen’s finished 11th in the 16-team field. Maria Huang (80-80), Catherine Huang (89-89), Kendall Miller (91-94) and Bella O’Donnell (115-109) led the Falcons.
Orlando First Academy’s Ariel Yu (68-67) edged teammate Sophie Guo (71-67) by three strokes to win the individual title.
First Academy finished at 11 under to win the team crown by 24 shots over Lake Mary Prep.
