Who makes the high school football playoffs if season ended today? Three local teams, but not Manatee
The Florida High School Athletic Association will release the Week 9 playoff points on Tuesday. But we tabulated the numbers a day early to give you a sneak peek at what to expect for Manatee County area programs.
Teams are in order of points, except when determining district champion slots. These do not reflect any makeup games scheduled for Monday night, such as Tampa Jesuit and Jefferson. Tiebreaking formulas are explained, too.
When deciding district champions for Classes 8A-5A, the team with the best district record entering Week 9 was chosen. The points average decides tiebreakers unless the teams with identical district records played head-to-head. Local teams are italicized, while projected district champions are in bold.
Here’s a look at each:

Notes: Southeast is the only District 11 team to get in as of Monday, which means the Seminoles can’t afford to not get in via the automatic district champion path. Bayshore’s huge win over Hardee bumps the Bruins a bit, but they need to win out and hope for help to have a chance. Lakewood is listed above Tarpon Springs via the points average tiebreaker. Jesuit is ahead of Jefferson and Immokalee is ahead of Dunbar using the district record tiebreaker.

8. St. Petersburg Catholic, 30.67
PROJECTED FIRST-ROUND PAIRINGS
Lakeland Christian at Clearwater Central Catholic; Clearwater Calvary Christian at Tampa Catholic.
Notes: It may look bleak for Cardinal Mooney after the forfeited losses, but the Cougars still can climb the ladder with a major points game against rival CCC looming. The Cougars own the head-to-head tiebreaker over St. Pete Catholic and Ocala Trinity Catholic has the tiebreaker over Tampa Berkeley Prep via more Category 1, 2 and 3 wins. Tampa Catholic has the tiebreaker over Lakeland Christian with more Category 1 and 2 wins.
