With less than a month to go before the 2017 World Rowing Championships at Nathan Benderson Park, the team that will represent the United States is complete.

Of the 78 athletes named to represent Team USA through selection camps, World Rowing Cup competition or the Senior World Championship Trials, 19 have competed in the Olympics or Paralympics. Moreover, 60 of the 78 have competed in past world championships.

The 2017 championships mark one of the first building blocks on the road to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

“There will be a good mix of returning athletes and new talent across the board and in multiple events,” U.S. Rowing director of high performance Matt Imes said. “Everyone looks forward to establishing the foundation here in 2017 to build off of as we prepare for 2020.”

In 2016, the U.S. won one medal at the World Championships and three Olympic and Paralympic medals.

The championships are scheduled for Sept. 24-Oct. 1, the first time the event will be held in the U.S. since 1994 in Indianapolis.
