Chatfield (Littleton, Colo.) vs. Braden River

When: 6 p.m. Thursday

The scoop: Part of the kickoff weekend at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista. ... It’s the first out-of-state opponent for the Pirates, and it’s a good opening test. Chatfield advanced to Colorado’s Class 4A state semifinals in 2016. It’s a classic matchup of physical vs. speed. The Chargers pounded the football last year, but lost top running back Dalton Keene (1,175 rushing yards) to graduation. In his place, Ben Frenette (103 carries/715 yards in 2016) should see an increased workload as a senior. ... Braden River’s defense, which was without Missouri committed defensive back Tyrone Collins (ACL tear) and Florida committed defensive lineman Taylor Upshaw (foot) with injuries last week, limited Lehigh Acres Lehigh running back Chris Curry (LSU commit) during a Kickoff Classic victory cut short by weather. ... Cam White (14 carries/92 yards) shined out of the backfield as the Pirates boast an experienced offensive line with talented skill around transfer QB Bryan Gagg.

Jason Dill’s prediction: Braden River 35, Chatfield 21
