Bradenton Christian hired Alvaro Figuerola as the Panthers boys soccer head coach, according to a news release. Figuerola moved to Bradenton in 1999 and started coaching tennis and soccer at IMG Academy after his collegiate playing career ended.

Figuerola played tennis and soccer at South Carolina’s Francis Marion University and is in the school’s athletic Hall of Fame after becoming an NCAA First-Team All-American soccer player at the school.

Since 2009, Figuerola has coached tennis and soccer on his own.

According to the news release, Figuerola’s “vision for the soccer team will be to create a style of play and team spirit through effort, discipline and encouragement that will build the program for the long haul.”
