IMG’s Daniel Faalele makes player of the year football award watch list

IMG Academy football player Daniel Faalele was named to the 2017 watch list for the Polynesian High School Player of the Year Award, according to a news release.

The Polynesian Hall of Fame announced the watch list on Tuesday. Faalele, who has never played a regular-season football game, is an offensive tackle garnering several college offers and attention for his sheer size.

Standing 6-foot-9 and weighing 390 pounds, the former Australian rugby player is among 52 players on the watch list. The inaugural player of the year award will get whittled to five finalists on Dec. 7, before the winner is announced at halftime of the Polynesian Bowl on Jan. 19, 2018.
