McGarry suffers blown save in Marauders’ loss

Bradenton Marauders closer Seth McGarry hit Peter Alonso with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to cap St. Lucie’s comeback from four runs down in the Mets’ 6-5 victory at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie.

The blown save was the firsts for McGarry this season.

Bradenton starter Bret Helton scattered five hits over seven innings and reliever Logan Sendelbach worked a perfect eighth. However, Daniel Zamora gave up four hits and a walk to the five batters he faced before giving way to McGarry, who gave up a single and a force out. A throwing error by McGarry on a grounder allowed the tying run to score.

Tim Tebow had an RBI single in the inning. He went 1 for 3 and is hitting .303.

Austin McGeorge (1-1) got the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief while Daniel Zamora (1-2) took the loss in the Florida State League game.

The Marauders left 12 on base and went 2 for 14 with runners in scoring position.
