Marauders romp past St. Lucie

Ke’Bryan Hayes homered and singled, scoring three runs as the Bradenton Marauders extended their winning streak to five games with an 8-1 victory Thursday against the St. Lucie Mets at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie.

Designated hitter Jordan George and Casey Hughton each tripled. George added a double, leading the 16-hit attack. Every Marauders starter recorded at least one hit.

Bradenton left-hander Cam Vieaux (3-2) struck out a season-best eight, allowed one run on six hits over six innings.

St. Lucie’s Mike Gibbons (0-2) took the loss in the Florida State League game. He allowed five runs and eight hits over 4 2/3 innings.

Bradenton improved to 10-4 against St. Lucie this season and can sweep the season series in Port St. Lucie on Friday.
