The wall and door leading from the locker room toward the football stadium sees images of past top players splattered around.
Jacob Huesman, Chase Balliette, Ronnie McClellan, Alex Salguero and Raymond Thomas’ pictures are there.
It’s one aspect to Braden River High School’s revamped locker room.
“You can always look back on some of the guys that helped us get to where we are,” Pirates head coach Curt Bradley said.

Creating a new locker room for the 2017 season started after the 2016 season ended.
Players traveled through the community to drum up the financial support, which combined with sponsorships, produced funds for the approximately $20,000 project.
CF Designs, a Parrish company that Casey Fabianski started in 2011, carried out the project that got going in March during spring break and was completed in time for Thursday’s media day and open house locker room unveiling.
“It’s crazy,” quarterback Bryan Gagg said. “It almost makes you want to just live in there. It’s ridiculous. I’ve never seen another high school’s locker room like that other than IMG’s and schools like that.”
Noah Arce, a Herald All-Area first-team linebacker last season, said he was a little jealous after seeing it, but could tell the program is going in the right direction with how nice it looks.
Other players off last year’s team, including nose tackle Deqwunn McCobb and quarterback Louis Colosimo, were impressed, too.
The lockers are along the walls on each side and snake in the corners from the front door toward the back door.
There’s a giant sword on the back wall before the exit door with the word, “Conqueror,” next to it in reference to the Pirates.
A trophy case sits inside on the other side of the back wall and is visible to the players as they dress for practices or games.
“It’s not as filled as we want it to be,” senior Chase Knopf said. “We came up short last year and it’s go time this year.”
Bradley said his favorite part is the light that drops down from the ceiling above the giant Braden River Pirates logo in the center.
“To know that the gentleman that did that all by hand, he went through and routed all those things, it’s pretty dang special,” Bradley said. “I just think it kind of brings everything together. It looks like a college locker room.”
It’s a locker room upgrade that came after previous players built the Pirates into an area power.
Braden River reached the Class 7A state semifinals in 2015 and is riding a playoff streak of four straight years after Bradley started the rebuilding process upon his arrival in 2012.
Running back Deshaun Fenwick, who is committed to South Carolina, said the locker room is on par with the Gamecocks.
“You get the college experience as a locker room before you even get to college,” Fenwick said.
While the locker room perks don’t equate to victories, it does boost morale.
“It gives us great momentum before we even go into the game when you see this locker room,” senior defensive back Tyrone Collins said. “... We got to go out and play for this locker room that (the design company) gave us.”
