Marauders fall to Clearwater on Star Wars Night
The Force was not with the Bradenton Marauders on their annual Star Wars Night.
Clearwater Threshers reliever Jeff Singer retired Jordan George on a fly ball with the bases loaded to end the game, securing Clearwater’s 4-3 victory against host Bradenton at LECOM Park in Florida State League action on Saturday.
The Marauders never led though they were twice tied.
With the game tied 1-1 in the fifth, Clearwater took the lead when Wilson Garcia hit an RBI single, scoring Grenny Cumana.
Trailing 4-2, the Marauders cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Stephen Alemais hit an RBI single, scoring George. George, who homered in the fourth and singled, joined Casey Hughston as the only Bradenton players with two hits.
Franklyn Kilome (5-4) picked up the win. He allowed three runs and seven hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Cam Vieaux (2-2) allowed four runs and nine hits in seven innings. He also struck out three and walked two.
George homered and doubled, scoring two runs for the Marauders.
