Hughston single sparks Marauders past Fire Frogs
Casey Hughston hit a two-run single in the fifth inning, leading the Bradenton Marauders to a 5-3 victory against the Florida Fire Frogs at LECOM Park in Bradenton on Saturday.
Daniel Zamora got Austin Riley to ground out with a runner on first to end the game for his seventh save of the season.
The single by Hughston started the scoring in a four-run inning and gave the Marauders a 3-2 lead. Later in the inning, Ty Moore scored on a balk and Hughston stole home.
Bradenton right-hander Gage Hinsz (4-5) allowed three runs on nine hits over seven innings. Florida starter Ricardo Sanchez (3-9) allowed five runs and nine hits over 4 1/3 innings to take the loss.
Notes: The Pittsburgh Pirates announced outfielder Starling Marte, who has been serving an 80-game suspension, will begin his rehab assignment on Sunday with the Bradenton Marauders. Marte is eligible for reinstatement on July 18.
