How to escape greenside bunkers

Greenside bunker shots are a safe haven for pros, but they cause amateurs some tricky shots that can cause scores to skyrocket.

Don’t fret, because Waterlefe Golf and River Club head professional Matt Hill provides this week’s Bradenton Herald Golf Tip on escaping those treacherous greenside bunkers with ease.

To do so, follow his three steps of lining up left of the target with an open stance, swing steeply and accelerate through the ball.

“It’s everything,” Hill said. “Just understanding how to get out is the most important part. If you can grasp concept, then you can gradually get better.”
