Tolman, Vasquez fuel win by Bradenton
Mitchell Tolman hit a two-run triple in the fifth inning, leading the Bradenton Marauders to a 4-1 victory against the Dunedin Blue Jays at LECOM Park in Florida State League action on Wednesday.
The triple by Tolman scored John Bormann and Alfredo Reyes to give the Marauders a 2-1 lead. Tolman finished with three of Bradenton’s five hits.
The triple made a winner out of Bradenton right-hander Pedro Vasquez (7-4), who allowed one run on three hits over six innings. He struck out six and walked none, improving his ERA to 2.21 — fifth best in the Florida State League.
Jordan Romano (3-3) took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits over 4 2/3 innings. Daniel Zamora allowed a lead-off walk before settling and recording his sixth save of the season.
The Marauders (40-33, 3-3) tacked on two runs in the seventh when Ty Moore hit a solo home run. The game marked Moore’s Florida State League debut. Reyes scored on a ground out.
The 10:30 a.m. start time drew 1,852.
Bradenton improved to 6-3 against Dunedin (36-39, 2-4) this season.
