Marauders win with three runs in ninth inning
Jordan George had three hits and three RBIs as the Bradenton Marauders scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the Lakeland Flying Tigers 5-2 on Sunday.
Down 2-0 in the eighth, Lakeland tied the game when Blaise Salter hit a two-run home run.
Bradenton answered in the top of the next frame. George hit a two-run single and Ke’Bryan Hayes hit an RBI single en route to the three-run lead.
Sam Street (1-1) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief while Jason Foley (0-1) took the loss in the Florida State League game.
For the Flying Tigers, Jake Robson was a home run short of the cycle.
▪ Earlier Sunday, the Marauders and Flying Tigers completed Saturday’s game, which was suspended by rain in the eighth inning.
Bradenton led 3-2 when the game was suspended, but Lakeland’s Arvicent Perez tied it with a homer in the bottom of the ninth. The Flying Tigers then won the game on a walk-off single with two outs in the 11th.
