Marauders lead in suspended FSL game in Lakeland

The evening storms arrived a half hour too early for the Bradenton Marauders on Saturday.

The Marauders were leading host Lakeland 3-2 in the top of the eighth inning when impending weather forced a delay. The subsequent storm forced the game to be suspended. It will be resumed at noon Sunday ahead of the regularly scheduled nine-inning game at Joker Marchant Stadium.

The game was tied at 2 after seven, but Bradenton’s Ke’Bryan Hayes scored on Logan Hill’s RBI single in the top of the eighth. The single was Hill’s second of the night. Hill, Jordan George and Kevin Krause had two hits each; Bradenton had nine hits overall.

Lakeland took a 2-0 lead in the fifth on a Luis Valdes sacrifice fly and a Will Maddox single. Bradenton tied the game in the top of the sixth on George’s first single and a Mitchell Tolman grounder.

Bradenton starter Bret Helton allowed four hits and two earned runs in six innings but will get a no decision. Lakeland starter Josh Turley allowed five hits and three walks in six innings, but only the two runs.
