Rodriguez, Fort Myers shut out Marauders

Dereck Rodriguez scattered three hits over six innings to lead the Fort Myers Miracle past Bradenton 2-0 in Florida State League action on Friday at LECOM Park.

Rodriguez (4-2) struck out six and walked one. He allowed a third-inning single to Casey Hughston, a fifth-inning single to Brian Navarreto and a sixth-inning single to Ke’Bryan Hayes. Hughston was erased trying to steal second. Hayes was thrown out trying to stretch the single into a double.

The only score of the game came in the second inning when Daniel Kihle hit a two-run home run off Bradenton starter Taylor Hearn (3-4).

Hearn went six innings, allowing three hits. He struck out eight and walked two. Logan Sendelbach and Casey Sadler allowed two hits over three scoreless innings for the Marauders.

Alex Muren retired the side in order for his first save of the season for Fort Myers, which averted a sweep in the four-game series.

The Marauders were held off the scoreboard for the second time this season, while the Miracle’s staff recorded their fourth shutout.
