Helton, Craig lift Marauders by Miracle

Brett Helton pitched six scoreless innings and Will Craig homered and singled twice to lead the Bradenton Marauders to a 5-1 victory against Fort Myers in Florida State League play at LECOM Park on Thursday.

Craig drove in two runs, both coming on his first-inning homer that gave Bradenton the lead.

The Marauders added two more in the second on Casey Hughston’s RBI triple and Cole Tucker’s RBI single. Logan Hill, who reached base four times on two singles and two walks, added an RBI single in the seventh.

Fort Myers loaded the bases in the top of the ninth, but reliever Yunior Montero struck out Sean Miller to end the game.

Helton (3-0) scattered seven hits and a walk in his six innings.

Brady Anderson (2-1) took the loss for Fort Myers, giving up four runs and nine hits over five innings.

The Marauders try for a four-game sweep of the Miracle on Friday. After losing four of the first five games against the Miracle this season, Bradenton has won the last four.
