Marauders shut out Fort Myers in FSL
Pedro Vasquez allowed two hits over seven innings, leading the Bradenton Marauders past Fort Myers 1-0 in Florida State League play on Wednesday at LECOM Park.
Vasquez (5-3) struck out eight and walked one.
Left-handers Jake Brentz and Daniel Zamora pitched one perfect inning each as the Marauders produced the team’s third shutout of the season. The save was Zamora’s fourth. The three Bradenton pitchers combined to strike out 10.
Ke’Bryan Hayes drove in the game’s lone run with an RBI single off Lewis Thorpe (0-2) in the fourth. Cole Tucker, who reached on a walk and advanced to second on an error, scored on Hayes’ single.
Bradenton center fielder Casey Hughston preserved the shutout in the seventh with an inning-ending diving catch.
Thorpe (0-2) went five innings, allowing one run and one hit.
