Daytona’s five-run seventh sinks Bradenton Marauders in FSL
Chris Okey hit a two-run single in the seventh inning, capping a five-run inning and leading the Daytona Tortugas to a 9-8 victory against the Bradenton Marauders on Wednesday in the Florida State League.
Earlier in the inning, Gavin LaValley drew a bases-loaded walk from reliever Yunior Montero (4-1), the second of four Marauders pitchers. Two batters later, Daniel Sweet hit a two-run single off reliever Jess Amedee.
Alfredo Rodriguez doubled and singled twice, driving in a run and also scoring one for Daytona, which finished with 12 hits.
Sandy Lugo (2-1) got the win in relief of starter Ty Boyles, who worked 5 2/3 innings. Robert Stock pitched two scoreless innings for his second save of the season.
Will Craig homered to start a three-run third and singled for the Marauders. John Bormann had a two-run single in the second as Bradenton built a 6-0 lead.
